Hi! I’m Rachel. I moved to New York from Ireland in September 2016 and spent my time traveling, eating, drinking, eating some more, and making new friends along the way. I made this blog to basically force myself to write about my NYC journey. You’ll find lots of tips and tricks about the city (albeit dated) and emigrating in general. I stopped writing a little while after I settled into London life in 2018, but these ramblings will always be cherished to look back on, and I hope they help you in your travels.

I came up with the name Tales of a Fairy because I wanted my blog to have a name that reflected my personality. A friend started calling me Tinkerbell and it reminded me of how many times I’ve been called a fairy by people who get to know me… I’ve always had my head in the clouds.
